...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  NEARSHORE WATERS FROM WINTHROP HARBOR TO MICHIGAN CITY...
  OPEN WATERS FROM WINTHROP HARBOR TO MICHIGAN CITY OUT TO MID
LAKE...

At 637 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 10 nm
southwest of Pleasant Prairie to 17 nm west of Montrose Harbor to 50
nm west of Michigan City, moving east at 20 knots. Additional
thunderstorms will be moving in behind the leading edge
thunderstorms and these will likely be moving toward the southeast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor
immediately until these storms pass.

This strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30
knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine
warning may eventually be required for portions of the lake when
these storms reach the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider
heading for shore before these storms arrive.

Intense lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the
open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded
metal objects.
