Powerful Storm to Impact Eastern Third of U.S. this weekend.

A developing storm system will bring a myriad of significant impacts this weekend. Heavy snow up to 18 inches from the Ohio Valley to the Northeast, and ice up to a quarter of an inch is forecast in places. Heavy rain may cause flash flooding from the Mid-South to the Mid-Atlantic. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be possible in the Deep South.

Rest Of Tonight: Nearshore, east northeast winds after midnight. Winds north northeast 5 knots late in the evening. Offshore, east winds after midnight. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 3 seconds. Bay and inland waters smooth.

Saturday: South southeast winds 5 to 10 knots. Seas less than 2 feet. Period 2 seconds. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Saturday Night: South southwest winds 10 to 15 knots nearshore and south southwest 15 to 20 knots offshore. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Period 3 seconds. Bay and inland waters choppy in exposed areas. Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight.

Sunday: Northwest winds 15 to 25 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet nearshore and 6 to 8 feet with occasional to 10 feet offshore. Period 4 seconds increasing to 9 seconds in the afternoon. Bay and inland waters a moderate chop. Showers likely and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning...then a slight chance of showers in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: North winds 15 to 20 knots with gusts to around 30 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet nearshore and 5 to 7 feet with occasional to 9 feet offshore. West northwest swell 3 feet after midnight. Bay and inland waters a moderate chop.

Monday: Northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Nearshore, seas 2 to 3 feet. Offshore, seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet subsiding to 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet in the afternoon. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Monday Night And Tuesday: East southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Tuesday Night: Southeast winds around 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Bay and inland waters a light chop.

Wednesday: South southeast winds around 15 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Bay and inland waters a light chop. A chance of showers.
