Multi-Day and Region Severe Weather Event

A multi-day weather event with severe storms and heavy rainfall will impact several parts of the country. Today, an enhanced risk of severe storms capable of a few strong tornadoes and wind damage are forecast across the central Gulf Coast states. Flash Flooding is also possible from the central Gulf Coast to the Ohio Valley. These threats will press eastward towards the East Coast on Friday.

Friday: South winds 20 to 25 knots. Seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Showers likely. Thunderstorms likely in the afternoon.

Friday Night: Along the coast, southwest winds 15 to 20 knots becoming west northwest 10 to 15 knots after midnight, seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet subsiding to 2 to 3 feet after midnight. In the gulf stream, southwest winds 20 to 25 knots becoming west 15 to 20 knots after midnight, seas 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop. Thunderstorms likely in the evening. Showers through the night. Chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Visibility 1 nm or less.

Saturday: West winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet along the coast and 2 to 4 feet with occasional to 5 feet in the gulf stream. Period 6 seconds. Intracoastal waters a light chop. Chance of showers in the morning.

Saturday Night: Northwest winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas around 2 feet along the coast and 2 to 3 feet in the gulf stream. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Sunday: North winds around 10 knots. Seas around 2 feet along the coast and 2 to 3 feet in the gulf stream. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Sunday Night: Northeast winds around 10 knots. Seas 2 to 3 feet. Intracoastal waters a light chop.

Monday Through Tuesday: East northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet. Intracoastal waters a moderate chop.
