Heavy Snow for Denver Foothills; Critical Fire Weather Threats in California

A strong cold front moving into the Plains will produce heavy snow, up to a foot, across the Colorado Front Range foothills, including southwest of the Denver metro area. Strong winds behind the front will create critical fire weather threats across much of California through Friday. Later this week, this front will produce heavy rain from the South Plains to the Tennessee Valley.

Synopsis: An area of high pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern across the Atlantic and Gulf coastal waters tonight which will allow for a southeasterly flow to continue. A cold front will begin to approach the waters during the middle of the week which will increase the winds and waves during this time frame. There is the potential for Small Craft Advisory conditions across the Atlantic waters during the middle portion of the week. The chances of showers and thunderstorms will also increase out ahead of the approaching cold front as well.
