Coastal Storm Impacts Northeast; Heavy Rain Coming to the Southwest

A well-developed coastal storm will move slowly just off the Northeast coast today bringing gusty winds, flooding and high surf near the coast. Interior portions of New England will see a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. Moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Raymond is forecast to be drawn over the Southwest U.S. midweek with a heavy rain and flash flood threat for Arizona.

Winds will remain generally light to moderate throughout today before northwesterly winds increase across the waters late tonight and into tomorrow morning. Winds will continue to increase throughout the day on Tuesday before gale force conditions are expected beginning Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday morning over the northern outer waters. Northwest swell will build tomorrow ahead of an approaching front and as winds increase northwest wind generated waves will also build to become large and hazardous Tuesday night.
